Sapphire is a role-playing video game developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance handheld video game console. It was released in Japan in November 2002, and in North America and Europe in March 2003. Sapphire is the second installment in the third generation of the Pokémon video game series, alongside its companion version, Ruby.

The player controls a young Pokémon Trainer who embarks on a journey to explore the Hoenn region, capturing, training, and battling Pokémon creatures. The ultimate goal of the game is to become the Hoenn League Champion by defeating the eight Gym Leaders and the Elite Four.

Gameplay
