Belote is a popular trick-taking card game played with a deck of 32 cards. It is particularly prevalent in France, Belgium, and Switzerland, and has gained significant traction online in recent years.

Gameplay:

Belote is played with four players in two partnerships. The deck consists of 32 cards, including the Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and 10 from each of the four suits: Spades, Hearts, Diamonds, and Clubs.

The game begins with the dealer distributing eight cards to each player. The remaining eight cards form the "talon."

The player to the left of the dealer leads with any card. Players must follow suit if possible, or they may play any card if they do not have a card of the suit led.

Tricks are won by the highest card of the suit led, or by a trump card if a trump suit has been declared. The player who wins the trick leads the next card.

Bidding:

Before the first trick, each player has the opportunity to bid on the number of tricks they believe their partnership will take. The minimum bid is 80 points, and the maximum bid is 160 points.

Partnerships that bid successfully receive bonus points, while those that fail to meet their bid are penalized.

Trump Suit:

After the bidding, the player to the right of the dealer declares the trump suit. The trump suit is the suit that beats all other suits, including the suit led.

Scoring:

Points are awarded for taking tricks and for making certain combinations of cards. The partnership with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Special Combinations:

* Belote: A combination of the King and Queen of the same suit.

* Carre: A combination of four cards of the same rank.

* Tierce: A combination of three cards of the same suit in consecutive ranks.

* Quatorze: A combination of four Aces.

Variations:

Belote has several variations, including:
