Eights

Move the pegs into the holes in the centre of the board such that no two numbers joined by lines have a difference of 1.

Eights is a shedding-type card game that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. The goal of the game is to be the first player to get rid of all their cards. The game is played with a standard deck of 52 cards, and can be played with 2-6 players.

Setup

To start the game, each player is dealt 7 cards. The remaining cards are placed in a pile in the center of the table, and the top card is turned over to start the discard pile.

Gameplay

The player to the left of the dealer goes first. On their turn, a player can play a card that matches either the number or suit of the card on top of the discard pile. If a player cannot play a card, they must draw a card from the draw pile. If the card they draw can be played, they can play it immediately.

Special Cards

There are two special cards in Eights:

* Eights: An eight can be played on any card. When an eight is played, the player who played it can choose the next suit to be played.

* Queens: A queen can be played on any card, and the player who played it can force the next player to skip their turn.

Winning

The first player to get rid of all their cards wins the game. If the draw pile runs out before anyone wins, the player with the fewest cards in their hand wins.

Variations

There are many different variations of Eights, including:

* Crazy Eights: In this variation, all cards are wild.

* Mexican Train: This variation is played with two decks of cards, and players try to connect their cards to form a train.

* Slapjack: In this variation, players try to slap a jack when it is played.
