Pitch: A Card Game of Deduction and Strategy

Objective:

The goal of Pitch is to be the first player or team to reach 100 points by correctly bidding and making tricks.

Gameplay:

Pitch is played with a standard deck of 52 cards. Players are dealt 12 cards each. The remaining cards form the kitty, which is used for bidding and trick-taking.

Bidding:

Starting with the player to the left of the dealer, each player in turn bids the number of tricks they believe they can make. The minimum bid is 6, and the maximum bid is 12.

Kitty:

After bidding, the kitty is split between the two highest bidders. The player who bid the higher number takes the first six cards, and the player who bid the lower number takes the remaining six cards.

Trick-Taking:

The player who bid the highest number leads the first trick. Players take turns playing cards in suit, and the highest card of the suit led wins the trick. If a player cannot follow suit, they can play a trump card (spades). The winner of the trick collects the cards and leads the next trick.

Scoring:

If a player makes the number of tricks they bid, they receive 10 points for each trick. If they fail to make their bid, they lose 10 points for each trick they fall short. Additionally, there are bonus points available for making certain combinations of cards, such as a run (a sequence of three or more cards in the same suit) or a flush (five cards of the same suit).

Winning:

The first player or team to reach 100 points wins the game.

Variations:

There are many variations of Pitch, including:

* Blind Pitch: Players do not look at their cards before bidding.

* Partner Pitch: Players play in teams of two.

* No Trump Pitch: There are no trump cards.

* Auction Pitch: Players bid on the kitty before looking at it.
