Canterbury Rugby Union is the governing body for rugby union in the Canterbury Region of New Zealand. It is one of the oldest and most successful provincial unions in New Zealand, having won the National Provincial Championship (NPC) a record 14 times.

Canterbury's home ground is Orangetheory Stadium in Christchurch. The stadium has a capacity of 18,000 and is also used by the Crusaders, Canterbury's Super Rugby team.

Canterbury has a long and proud history in rugby union. The province first played inter-provincial matches in 1883, and has been a regular competitor in the NPC since its inception in 1976. Canterbury has won the NPC a record 14 times, including five consecutive titles from 2008 to 2012.

Canterbury has also produced a number of All Blacks, including Richie McCaw, Dan Carter, and Kieran Read. McCaw is the most capped All Black of all time, with 148 appearances. Carter is the all-time leading points scorer for the All Blacks, with 1,598 points. Read is the current captain of the All Blacks.

Canterbury Rugby Union is a strong supporter of grassroots rugby. The union runs a number of development programs for young players, and also supports local clubs and schools. Canterbury is also home to the Canterbury Rugby Academy, which is a high-performance program for young players who are aspiring to play at the professional level.
