Introduction

Players take turns moving one piece at a time. Pieces can move in any direction, but only one square at a time. Pawns can only move forward, elephants can move diagonally, horses can move in an L-shape, chariots can move horizontally or vertically, and the king can move in any direction.

Capturing Pieces

Pieces can capture opponent's pieces by landing on the same square. Pawns capture by moving forward, while all other pieces capture by moving in their respective directions. The king cannot be captured, but it can be blocked from moving.

Special Moves

There are two special moves in Rooli:

* Castling: The king and one of the rooks can move simultaneously, with the king moving two squares towards the rook and the rook hopping over the king.

* En passant: If a pawn moves two squares forward from its starting position and lands beside an opponent's pawn, the opponent has the option to capture the first pawn "en passant," as if it had only moved one square forward.

Rooli requires strategic thinking and planning. Players must consider the position of their pieces, the potential moves of their opponent, and the overall goal of the game. Controlling the center of the board, protecting the king, and developing pieces early are key strategic principles.
