Overview

Tijuana is a Mexican-themed card game for 2-6 players, ages 10 and up. The goal of the game is to be the first player to get rid of all their cards. The game is played with a standard deck of 52 cards, plus 2 jokers.

Setup

To set up the game, each player is dealt 7 cards. The remaining cards are placed in a pile in the center of the table. The top card of the pile is turned over and placed next to the pile to start the discard pile.

Gameplay

The player to the left of the dealer goes first. On their turn, a player must play a card from their hand that matches the rank or suit of the card on top of the discard pile. If the player cannot play a card, they must draw a card from the draw pile.

If a player plays a jack, they can change the suit of the discard pile. If a player plays a queen, they can reverse the direction of play. If a player plays a king, they can skip the next player's turn.

If a player plays a joker, they can play it on any card. The joker takes on the rank and suit of the card it is played on.

Winning

The first player to get rid of all their cards wins the game. If the draw pile runs out of cards and no player has gotten rid of all their cards, the game ends in a draw.

Variations

There are many variations of Tijuana. Some common variations include:

* Crazy Eights: In this variation, players can play an eight on any card. The eight then becomes the new suit.

* Slapjack: In this variation, players slap the discard pile when a jack is played. The player who slaps the pile first gets to take all the cards in the pile.

* Speed: In this variation, players try to get rid of all their cards as quickly as possible. The first player to get rid of all their cards wins the game.

Strategy

There are a few basic strategies that can help you win at Tijuana:

* Pay attention to the cards that have been played. This will help you know what cards are still in the deck and what cards you are likely to draw.

* Try to get rid of your high cards first. High cards are more difficult to match, so it is better to get rid of them early in the game.

* Don't be afraid to draw cards. If you cannot play a card, it is better to draw a card than to hold onto a card that you cannot play.
