Overview

The Bangalore Metro Train, officially known as Namma Metro, is a rapid transit system serving the city of Bangalore, India. It is operated by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) and consists of two operational lines, the Purple Line and the Green Line, with a total length of 56 kilometers. The system has 51 stations, including 10 underground stations.

History

The Bangalore Metro project was first conceived in the 1990s, but construction did not begin until 2006. The first phase of the Purple Line, from Baiyappanahalli to MG Road, opened in 2011. The second phase, extending the Purple Line to Mysore Road and the Green Line from Nagasandra to Yelachenahalli, opened in 2015.

Lines and Stations

The Purple Line runs from Baiyappanahalli in the east to Mysore Road in the southwest. It has 20 stations, including 6 underground stations.

The Green Line runs from Nagasandra in the northwest to Yelachenahalli in the southeast. It has 31 stations, including 4 underground stations.
