Objective of the Game

The primary objective of Buraco Online - Mano a Mano is to be the first player to meld all of their cards into valid combinations, known as canastas. Canastas can be formed by sets of three or more cards of the same rank or by runs of seven or more cards of the same suit.

Gameplay

The game begins with each player receiving 11 cards. Players take turns drawing a card from the draw pile or the discard pile and then discarding one card to the discard pile. During their turn, players can meld canastas, add cards to existing canastas, or "go out" by discarding all of their cards.

Canastas

There are two types of canastas: closed canastas and open canastas. Closed canastas are formed with at least seven cards and are not revealed to the opponent until the player goes out. Open canastas are formed with at least four cards and can be added to by both players throughout the game.

Wild Cards

The two jokers in the deck act as wild cards and can be used to represent any card in a canasta. Additionally, the 2 of spades can also be used as a wild card in open canastas.

Scoring

Points are awarded for melds and for going out. Closed canastas are worth more points than open canastas. Going out earns the player a bonus of 100 points. The first player to reach 1,000 points wins the game.
