One of the biggest educational challenges in the IT field is trying to teach the basic concepts of programming to children early on so that they have a solid base of knowledge to build on. These basic concepts also help children with deductive reasoning, logic, and problem-solving skills. Developing these skills is the focus of codeSpark.

The game gives you a series of small challenges to solve in which you complete predetermined objectives by moving your character and interacting with elements in the setting. What is special about codeSpark is that, in order to complete the challenges, you can't directly control your character. Instead, you have to plan a series of sequential actions that will be set into effect later on.
