Dominoes is definitely one of the most famous board game in the world. There are dozens of rules out there, but three modes are getting most of the attention:
- Draw dominoes: simple, relaxing, play your tiles on either side of the board. You only need to match the tile you have with one of the 2 ends already on the board.
- Block dominoes: basically the same as Draw Dominoes. The main difference is you have to pass your turn if you run out of options (whereas you can pick an extra domino from the boneyard in the previous mode).
- Dominoes All Five: slightly more complex. Each turn, you need to add all ends of the board, and count the number of pips on them. If it is a multiple of five, you score those points. A bit difficult at first but you will quickly get it!
Beautiful, simple, relaxing, easy to learn yet complex if you get to learn all the tricks! Will you be a Dominoes master?
Dominoes is a classic tabletop game that has been enjoyed by people of all ages for centuries. The game is simple to learn but can be challenging to master, making it a great choice for both casual and experienced players.
Objective
The objective of Dominoes is to be the first player to get rid of all of their tiles. Players take turns placing tiles on the table, matching the number of pips on the end of one tile to the number of pips on the end of another tile.
Setup
The game is played with a set of 28 tiles, each of which is divided into two squares. Each square is marked with a number of pips, ranging from 0 to 6.
To set up the game, the tiles are shuffled and then each player is dealt 7 tiles. The remaining tiles are placed face down in a pile in the center of the table.
Gameplay
The player with the highest double (a tile with the same number of pips on both ends) starts the game. They place the double in the center of the table.
The next player must then place a tile on the table that matches the number of pips on one end of the double. For example, if the starting double is a 6-6, the next player could place a tile with either a 6 or a 0 on one end.
If a player cannot place a tile, they must draw a tile from the pile in the center of the table. If they can still not place a tile, they must pass their turn.
Scoring
When a player gets rid of all of their tiles, they win the game. The other players then count up the number of pips on the tiles in their hands. The player with the lowest total score wins the round.
Variations
There are many different variations of Dominoes, each with its own unique set of rules. Some of the most popular variations include:
* Draw Dominoes: In this variation, players can draw tiles from the pile in the center of the table at any time.
* Block Dominoes: In this variation, players can block other players from placing tiles by placing a tile that matches the number of pips on both ends of the previous tile.
* Mexican Train Dominoes: In this variation, players build their own trains of tiles, and the first player to get rid of all of their tiles wins the game.
Tips for Playing Dominoes
* Count your pips: It is important to keep track of the number of pips on the tiles that have been played, so that you know what tiles you can and cannot play.
* Block your opponents: If you can, try to block your opponents from placing tiles by placing a tile that matches the number of pips on both ends of the previous tile.
* Draw tiles strategically: If you cannot place a tile, do not draw a tile from the pile in the center of the table unless you are sure that you can play it.
* Don't be afraid to pass: If you cannot place a tile, do not be afraid to pass your turn. It is better to pass than to draw a tile that you cannot play.
