Hand, Hand Partner, Hand Saudi

Introduction

Hand, Hand Partner, Hand Saudi is a popular card game played in the Middle East, particularly in Saudi Arabia. It is a trick-taking game similar to Hearts, but with some unique rules and variations. The game is played with a standard 52-card deck and can be played by 3-6 players.

Objective

The objective of the game is to be the first player or team to reach a predetermined score, typically 100 points. Points are earned by taking tricks and collecting certain cards.

Gameplay

Dealing

The dealer shuffles the deck and deals 13 cards to each player.

Bidding

After the cards are dealt, each player bids on the number of tricks they believe they can take. The minimum bid is 0 and the maximum bid is 13. Players must bid at least 0, but they can pass if they do not believe they can take any tricks.

Trick-Taking

The player to the left of the dealer leads with a card. The other players must follow suit if possible. If a player cannot follow suit, they can play any card, including a trump card. Trump cards are the four aces and the seven of spades.

The highest card of the suit led wins the trick, unless a trump card is played. In that case, the highest trump card wins. The player who wins the trick leads the next card.

Scoring

Players earn points for taking tricks and collecting certain cards.

* Tricks: Each trick taken is worth 1 point.

* Hearts: Each heart taken is worth 1 point.

* Queen of Spades: The Queen of Spades is worth 13 points.

* Seven of Spades: The Seven of Spades is worth 1 point if it is the first card led in a trick.

Hand Partner

In some variations of the game, players can form partnerships with the player sitting across from them. If a player and their partner bid a total of 13 or more tricks, they are considered a "Hand Partner." Hand Partners earn double points for tricks taken.

Hand Saudi

In the "Hand Saudi" variation of the game, players are dealt 12 cards instead of 13. The player to the right of the dealer leads with a card, and the other players must follow suit if possible. If a player cannot follow suit, they can play any card, including a trump card.

The highest card of the suit led wins the trick, unless a trump card is played. In that case, the highest trump card wins. The player who wins the trick leads the next card.

Scoring in Hand Saudi

Scoring in Hand Saudi is similar to the standard game, but with some slight variations.

Additionally, in Hand Saudi, players earn bonus points for taking all 12 tricks. This is known as a "Grand Slam" and is worth 10 points.

Winning

The game continues until one player or team reaches the predetermined score. The player or team with the highest score at the end of the game wins.
