The traditional Mexican Lottery: create cards, play and sing the figures.
The Lottery is a traditional game in Mexico, and this application manages to bring together the essential parts of the game:
Individual Primer:
Create an individual electronic booklet, usable to play with other people, in which you can mark and unmark the tiles that are "called" by a third party.
Assemble Primers:
It allows you to create "cards" randomly or select the numbers that make it up, to create your own versions, save them, and share or download them, so that you can print them and build your own collection.
To sing:
It is the equivalent of naming or "singing", one by one, the lottery tokens, until a winner is found.
The application also has instructions in each module that requires it, as well as a little help to know what can be done in each option, how to win in the Mexican lottery and a brief overview of its history.
We hope you like the automation of this traditional game!

Lotería Mexicana, also known as Mexican Bingo, is a captivating game of chance that has captivated generations of Mexican families and communities. Originating in the 18th century, this traditional game has become an integral part of Mexican culture, serving as a source of entertainment, a means of preserving folklore, and a reflection of the country's vibrant imagery and symbolism.
Gameplay and Mechanics
Lotería Mexicana is played using a deck of 54 cards, each adorned with a unique image representing a person, animal, object, or symbol. The cards are divided into four suits: oros (coins), copas (cups), espadas (swords), and bastos (clubs).
The game begins with a designated caller, known as the "gritón," randomly drawing cards from the deck and announcing the image and corresponding name printed on the card. Players hold individual boards with 16 blank spaces arranged in a 4x4 grid. Each space contains a small image corresponding to one of the cards in the deck.
As the caller announces the images, players search their boards for matching symbols. If a player finds a match, they place a marker, such as a bean or corn kernel, on the corresponding space. The first player to complete a row, column, or diagonal line on their board shouts "Lotería!" and wins the game.
Cultural Significance and Symbolism
Lotería Mexicana is more than just a game; it is a reflection of Mexican culture and history. The images on the cards represent a diverse array of Mexican traditions, folklore, and everyday life.
For example, the "La Catrina" card depicts a female skeleton adorned in an elaborate hat, representing the Mexican tradition of honoring the dead during the Day of the Dead. The "El Borracho" card portrays a drunken man, highlighting the dangers of alcohol abuse. The "La Sirena" card features a mermaid, symbolizing the importance of water and the allure of the unknown.
Each card in the Lotería deck carries a unique meaning and story, offering a glimpse into the rich tapestry of Mexican culture. The game has become a way to pass down traditions and values from generation to generation, fostering a sense of community and cultural identity.
Variations and Adaptations
Over the years, Lotería Mexicana has undergone various adaptations and variations. Some versions feature different sets of images, such as animals, flowers, or historical figures. There are also digital versions of the game available online and on mobile devices.
In addition, Lotería has been used as an educational tool in schools and community centers. It has been adapted to teach language skills, history, and cultural traditions. The game's versatility and accessibility have made it a popular choice for educational and recreational purposes alike.
Conclusion
Lotería Mexicana is a captivating game that combines elements of chance, skill, and cultural heritage. Through its vibrant imagery and engaging gameplay, the game has become a beloved tradition in Mexico and beyond. It serves as a testament to the country's rich cultural tapestry, fostering a sense of community and preserving folklore for generations to come.
