Russian Checkers, also known as Shashki, is a strategy board game played on an 8x8 checkered board with 12 pieces per player. The objective of the game is to capture all of your opponent's pieces or block them from making any legal moves.

Gameplay

The game begins with each player placing their pieces on the dark squares of the first three rows closest to them. Players take turns moving one piece at a time. Pieces can move forward one square diagonally, either left or right.

Capturing

If a player's piece lands on a square adjacent to an opponent's piece and there is an empty square behind it, the player can capture the opponent's piece by jumping over it and landing in the empty square. Multiple pieces can be captured in a single turn if they are aligned in a row.

Kings

When a piece reaches the opposite side of the board, it becomes a "king." Kings can move one square diagonally forward or backward.

Winning

The game is won when one player captures all of their opponent's pieces or blocks them from making any legal moves.

Variations

There are several variations of Russian Checkers, including:

* International Checkers: Played on an 8x8 board with 12 pieces per player.

* Brazilian Checkers: Played on a 10x10 board with 20 pieces per player.

* Canadian Checkers: Played on an 8x8 board with 12 pieces per player, but with different capture rules.
