Tongits Offline - A Classic Filipino Card Game for Hours of Entertainment
Tongits (also known as Tong-its or Tung-it) is a three-player knock rummy game that has become very popular in the Philippines. Both the name and the structure of the game suggest a relationship to the American game Tonk. Tong-Its appeared in the late 20th century and seems to be an extended version of Tonk, played with 12 card hands, and it shares strategic elements with Mahjong and Poker. The objective of Tongits is to empty your hand of all cards or minimize the total value of unmatched cards by forming card sets (melds, known as bahay, ba-ha, buo, or balay in different languages), discarding cards, and calling a draw. The player who either empties their hand first or has the lowest points when the central stack is depleted wins the game.

Tongits Offline is a popular Filipino card game that combines elements of strategy and luck. The game is played with a standard deck of 52 cards, and the objective is to be the first player to get rid of all their cards.
Gameplay
The game is played with 3-4 players. One player is designated as the dealer, who shuffles the deck and deals 12 cards to each player. The remaining cards are placed in a pile in the center of the table.
The player to the left of the dealer goes first. On their turn, a player can either draw a card from the deck or the discard pile, or they can meld cards into combinations. Melds are sets of three or more cards of the same rank (e.g., three Aces) or runs of three or more cards in sequence (e.g., 3-4-5).
If a player melds a combination, they can lay it down on the table. The other players can then add cards to the meld if they have any that match. For example, if one player melds three Aces, another player can add a fourth Ace to the meld.
The first player to get rid of all their cards wins the game.
Scoring
If a player wins, they receive points equal to the number of cards remaining in their opponents' hands. The first player to reach a predetermined score (usually 200 or 500 points) wins the game.
Variations
There are many variations of Tongits, but the basic gameplay remains the same. Some common variations include:
* Tongits King: The King of Spades is a wild card that can be used to represent any other card.
* Tongits Push: Players can push their cards to another player, forcing them to take the cards and add them to their hand.
* Tongits Solo: A single player plays against three computer opponents.
Tips for Playing Tongits
* Pay attention to the cards that have been played. This will help you deduce which cards your opponents are likely to have.
* Try to meld cards as early as possible. This will give you a chance to get rid of some of your weaker cards.
* Don't be afraid to draw cards from the discard pile. Sometimes, you can find useful cards in the discard pile that your opponents have passed up.
* Be patient. Tongits is a game of strategy and patience. Don't get discouraged if you don't win right away.
